Which hotel is for you?

We get highly praised for the food and service in all our hotels. So here’s some extra information to help you decide which one is for you beyond these ‘must have’ criteria. Children and well behaved pets are welcome at all.

Damson Dene Hotel

Near to the bustle of Bowness and Lake Windermere, find the Damson Dene Hotel. Amidst the orchards and farmlands of the Lyth Valley it has lovely views and offers a very tranquil place to stay. The hotel has a great leisure centre with swimming pool, spa pool, steam room, sauna, gym and a beauty salon. Keep an eye out for manager Wayne’s dog Fly, who is a regular feature in the hotel, and meet our well-fed ducks on the hotel pond. Guests have also commented on ghostly goings on.

Riverside Hotel

Its name gives away its location as it is set on the banks of the River Kent, where otters can be spotted playing from the restaurant windows. Kendal, a thriving town once important for wool and later its ‘Mint Cake’, is popular for its history, culture and shopping. The MintFest and Mountain Festival are just two events of international acclaim that are held in the town. There are good museums and art galleries as well as shops to find in the town’s historic narrow yards. A former 18th century tannery, completely refurbished in 2010, the hotel has 50 well appointed bedrooms with river views. This hotel has an award winning pool which is also great for young children. Guests can spend time in the excellent spa pool, steam room, sauna and gym. If you want to explore further, the Riverside Hotel is handy for trips into the Lake District, with good train and bus links nearby.

This is a traditional Lake District hotel which has been refurbished and extended recently, there’s even a Grecian temple for two in its lovely grounds. Leisure facilities include a guest only pool, mini gym, Jacuzzi, steam room and games room.

Cuckoo Brow Inn

Located in the village of Far Sawrey, this traditional coaching inn is the latest and smallest addition to the hotel portfolio. It is only a short walk to the famous home of Beatrix Potter at Hill Top Farm. Picturesque Hawkshead and Ambleside are a short journey away. There are fabulous walks in every direction and cycling too; Cuckoo Brow is a charging point for electric bikes if you are after a less energetic and novel way of getting around. Having recently been refurbished its 14 bedrooms, bathrooms, dining and bar area are beautifully finished. Come and sample our new Summer menu.
