Sizergh Castle and the Gardens

Meet Lynn

Lynn has worked for the Riverside Hotel, for almost 10 years, as the Head Housekeeper. She has grown up in Kendal, and has raised her 4 children here. Lynn loves to explore the Lake District with her kids and always finds new and interested things to keep the kids occupied.

"Sizergh Castle is great for a day out as there's lots for the kids and the adults to do! The grounds are very romantic and peaceful with a great lilly pond filled with koi fish. There is very much a Victorian feeling about this place. If you visit just before the Summer, the daffodils are at the height of their bloom, and it's amazing to sit  There is a little lunch area with picnic tables, joined onto an orchard and a beehive. We brought a picnic with us, and the kids love it! There's a pub/restaurant nearby called the Strickland Arms that's a stone's throw from the Castle after a day at the Castle and gardens!”

The impressive Sizergh Castle, a 58-foot tall tower, around 3 miles outside of Castle, has been the family home of the Strickland family since Medieval times. Although they still live there, the property is still managed by the National Trust and open to the public.
