Holker Hall is magnificently situated with gardens merging into parkland. The immaculately kept gardens (25 acres) are part woodland, part formal and essentially Victorian in character. Lord and Lady Cavendish have sought not only to conserve the historic, but have made changes and additions to the gardens that are stillbeing made today. Not to be missed are the spectacular display of Rhodedendrons in the spring or The Great Holker Lime. This awe inspiring tree measures 7.9 meters in girth. Other must sees are the National collection of Styracaceae and the Holker Labyrinth.
Muncaster Castle
Between the Irish Sea and Hardknott Pass, Muncaster is located in one of Europes most remote and dramatic landscapes. The wild setting of ancient woods and soaring mountains provides opportunities to explore the designated paths and walks. Try the awe inspiring Wild Walk or the fascinating Sino-Himalayan Trail.

Levens Hall with its world famous topiary
Telephone: 015395 60321
The Topiary Gardens at Levens are world famous in their own right. When Col. Grahme came back to Levens in 1688 upon the abdication of the King, he brought with him the gardener Monsieur Guillaume Beaumont, who had trained under Le Notre at Versailles and who had laid out the gardens at Hapton Court. He started work in 1694 creating the design for the garden you can see today. The design remains the same 300 years later. Under the magnificent topiary, you will find colourful Spring or Summer bedding. There is also a rose garden, a nuttery, fine herbaceous borders and a fountain garden laid out with pleached limes in 1994 to celebrate 300 years of the gardens at Lavens Hall.
