A cottage in the Lake District offers in one package so many of the factors that go to make the ideal holiday – the independence of self catering, the freedom to come and go, the Lakeland views, the outdoor life, the Lakeland fells, water sports, walking – it is all here.

Our holiday cottage here in Cumbria, the Georgian Farmhouse at Lindisfarm, has four bedrooms which sleep 8 people, a dining kitchen with Aga and a spacious living room, all main rooms having glorious views over the Duddon Estuary, and it is available for holiday rent.

Outside is a garden with lawn and seating area and lovely views and there is excellent parking.

Guests are free to explore the working farm and to collect fresh eggs for their breakfast. Lindisfarm is a traditional old-fashioned farm, where the livestock is rare-breed and free-range. The animals are well looked after, they are contented, and their happiness is reflected in the tenderness of the meat which they produce. The farm supplies rare-breed pork, lamb and beef to each of our three hotels: Newby Bridge Hotel on the shores of Lake Windermere; Damson Dene Hotel near Bowness in the tranquillity of the Lyth valley; and Riverside Hotel, modern luxury in a riverside setting in the historic town of Kendal.

The location in the south west of Cumbria provides easy access to Cumbria’s west coast, but is also convenient for some of the most popular Lakeland centres, with Coniston, Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness not very far away, and the Lakeland fells are all around.

Changeover day is Saturday.
